SKETCH WITH SOSTHENE WEIS
We are pleased to invite you to the next online Sketching Session on Saturday, July 18th, at 2 PM.
After several trips around the world, Arnaud De Meyer, Jean-Paul Carvalho and Mauro Doro are back home and offer us a new virtual trip with the Luxembourgish painter and architect Sosthène Weis (1872-1941). He produced around 450 watercolours which mainly represent the city of Luxembourg and its suburbs.
The artist particularly mastered the watercolour painting, which allowed him to capture the light and the unique atmosphere of these urban landscapes. The style of his works is imbued with post-impressionism. He was inspired during his almost daily walks in the city in the morning or evening.
Together, in a convivial mood, we will discover the talent of Sosthène Weis and his vibrant colour palette.
With the miniseries “Sketch with…”, LUCA and the volunteering architects and veteran urban sketchers Jean-Paul Carvalho, Arnaud De Meyer and Mauro Doro invite beginners and geeks sketchers to develop their own distinctive style by looking over the shoulder of famous artists or architects.
The session will take place on Zoom, an easy and reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing. You just need to register (until July 17th) and to have a stable connection for the meeting.
VIRTUAL SKETCHING DAY
SKETCHERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD DRAW LUXEMBOURG!
On Saturday, June 20th, the local USk Luxembourg chapter hosted a “Virtual Sketch day”. Thanks to a few virtual meeting points, many sketchers joined this initiative from all over the world to discover and draw Luxembourg.
In the evening, the LUCA joined this event with a virtual “drink & draw”. This unprecedented online session brought the sketchers together in a convivial atmosphere and allowed them to get to know each other, discuss and show their drawings, and, above all, to make portraits of the participants!
Corniche, Neumunster abbey or Munster Street have been drawn from all angles and with a multitude of techniques. Urban or rural landscapes, buildings or gardens, we offer you hereafter a selection of the masterpieces of these (very) talented sketchers.
